It's always been celebrated in Texas, even in little towns. It's got the vibe of a black Memorial Day, you have parade, people cook out, there are bands, and community groups perform/ do special stuff.

What was weird last year was the push to make it into Kwanzaa. The colors for Juneteenth were always red, white, and blue. The vibe was positive rather than dwelling on oppression.
