The simplest explanation is that this was accidental friendly fire, something that happened dozens of times with american troops in every single war.

I wish I could get money for being sane.

Nope, we have the transcripts where the pilot clearly identified the ship as American, can see the flag, and was ordered to bomb anyway.

That happened dozens of time and in every war the US was involved in. Look up friendly fire incidents in the gulf wars for example. Sometimes it's the execs on the ground who simply don't believe everything the pilot tell them (or assume it's a false flag) and think their info is better, sometimes it's the other way around.

This wasn't a mistake. It was deliberate. The pilots clearly identified the ship as American and were ordered to attack anyway.
