When you can no longer expect to get justice, out even reasonable attempts at it from a group of " random" individuals supposedly your peers, for fear of either men with guns and govt badges or groups of thugs proclaiming social justice and their media henchmen, you are looking at a republic in name only.

IMO Chauvin did deserve prison but it's still not remotely OK that acquittal was pretty-much off the table because the jury knew it would cause nationwide riots while putting targets on the backs of themselves and their families. I think if the jury wasn't shitting themselves he is still convicted but there are holdouts that keep it from being on all charges. This is dangerous, jury decisions need to be based on the facts of the case not what the jury fears the mob will do.
