Something I learned living in Japan = if you are shown discourtesy (which is very rare) it is ALWAYS done quite on purpose to take away face (yours) and set you down many notches. What Japan fellow should have done is turned on his heel and walked away and leave this dribbling moron to his handlers. When I was shown subtle or outright rude manners when I lived in Japan I did exactly that. Did not bow just turned, showed my ass and walked away to the very great disgrace of the host. Burned more than a few business deals and fine with me. If I tolerated the discourtesy then I would never ever be shown any respect anyways.

Fairly certain the Prime Minister's primary concern on traveling to the White House was an attempt to dicern what is taking place there. He needed to see first hand what is taking place behind the fenced off area known as the District of Columbia, just as Donald Trump once did in North Korea. I am certain it was an eye opening experience for him. And one necessary for guiding future policies in his country.
