Why is Communism STILL Debated?

Ultimately we are social animals, used to living in communities. We're hard-wired to respond positively to that which promises community and fairness, because we're fair, communal creatures.

If we still lived in communities of 150 people that would be OK, maybe, but we're not. Communism is cancer in the real world.

I know we're talking about communism, but socialism is necessary for healthy small communities, but does not work when scaled up in size. Communism doesn't always work, even in small communities, due to centralized absolute power.

Communism doesn't work because it cannot calculate the value of things.

I should have said voluntary socialism. Communities have to have people who help each other to be functioning. Once you mandate socialism, it isn't really socialism anymore.
