Amoral randomized minds corrupted by the lack of consequences!

There was an ancient story about how the mind sends its senses to investigate the world. Then builds a model from the data. Since it can't personally crawl out of the head. And has to rely on streams of energy captured by the sensory organs. There was an elephant in it too.
