actually you would not want to make your first targets something that is so obvious..

I am not a good chess player, but your opponent's king probably wouldnt be the first piece that you acquire.. you might take a few of his pawns and then take one of the horses and then take a bishop, etc... and then after you have taken many of his pieces, then you go for the king..
