Neither are insurrections. Insurrections involve weapons and mass death.

More importantly, insurrections lead to political change of power.

At most, the mob was seeking political justice/representation - and he was still in power.

Also, whatever you have to say about the legality of the Capitol "Insurrection", GameStop involved perfectly legal activities.

Market manipulation is actually completely illegal.

Letting people know you are going to buy shares before you buy them is illegal.

Asking people to buy, sell or hold to create a certain effect in the markets is illegal.

But I'm sure they just liked the stock.
