I read the document, and all it does is simplify the language the rules are written in. The far-right is trying to make this into so'm it ain't. If you're offended by which pronouns the House writes its rules in: you're a snowflake just like them. You can use whatever pronouns you want, but so can they.

For example: "himself or herself" becomes simply "themself". Another example is: "submit his or her resignation" becomes "resign" — which is a huge simplification. Most Americans — even many on the right, quite ironically — talk like this in normal speech, because language changes, and "they" is the new "he or she".

It makes sense that the House would want to change its language to reflect the English of 2020. The Senate could remain more conventional, and that would also make sense, because they're older (the root word of "Senate" literally means "old").

I don't see how anyone could construe this as a "ban", because it ain't like members of the House ain't allowed to say "father" no more.

It's still a pointless waste of resources. My city did this a few years ago, and while no one cared much, the thought process was something like: okay, there goes paying however many dollars in tax-payer hours to rewriting our laws in a manner that neither conservatives or the lgbtqa community cared about. But the politicians sure gave their selves a big pat on the back for it.

Yeah, it's a big waste of time and paper, especially when we have such a huge deficit.

Harris wants to be referred to as "they."

And what do you prefer as a pronoun? 🤓
