Debt slavery is still slavery, especially when it was the government who took away your livelihood and forced you into debt slavery. Putting people in prison for prolonged periods of time for minor crimes so prisons can be used as free labor for corporations is also slavery. Keeping illegals illegal instead of giving them a path to legal status makes them easily exploitable -- also slavery.
