This is a delivery from a mail service company or print shop to the local post office. You know.. the guys you send your mailing job to so they'll stuff and address those 50,000 envelopes for you and sort the whole thing. They (we) typically use these USPS bins to store and then transport them to the post office when done.

The fact that they are in open bed trucks just makes this more obvious. Post office isn't going to make a habit of using open bed trucks. It would be too much of a pain. These guys probably had less than a mile to drive and looks like they taped down top sheets to keep stuff from flying out.

In fact... I'd bet this is one of those few print shops that spends money on the print union dues so they can get the Democrat party print jobs during election season. The democrat party and their candidates are only allowed to use union printers. This is probably a smaller local print shop. If you only have a couple employees the dues are less and I know of several who really make that work by all the large jobs they get during elections. This is probably a bunch of those 8.5x11 flyers we all got back in October that they stayed up late to print 100,000 of and bring to the post office when done. You pretty much get to name your price in these situations.

Although the idea of unions makes my skin crawl, I admit to a little jealousy of the other shops who spent the money to pay off the union when election season comes around. The republicans just don't spend as freely. ;]
