I keep reading in the media that the lawsuits have no chance and they're the flailing of a petulant child. Odd that they need millions to appeal if they're so baseless, isn't it?

Our legal system is not free just because you're right. If you were arrested falsely right now for murder you'd likely be completely ruined by legal fees as would most Americans, assuming you could afford them at all and didn't have to plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit.

Same deal here. It's also an appeal for fundraising (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-30-million-fight-fund-legal) not a fundraiser for appeals, although you have to pay to appeal decisions too and that's also just how the legal system works.
