I think the George Floyd case is totally besides the point of what he's saying—but nobody's making you watch it.

What I find more interesting is his criticism of the protesters "gang-like" behaviour—like closing ranks, refusing to take responsibility, not calling out their "bad apples", and using personal safety as an excuse for violence.

He's not necessarily saying that's how the cops behave (or if they do, then it's secondary to the main point), but the protesters are doing precisely the worst of the things they are accusing against the police.
