The article is purposely conflating no cash bail for non-violent crimes and associating it with a rise in violent crimes. It's a propaganda piece.

I like the idea of cash bail ending. People spend months, even years sometimes in jail awaiting trial when they can't afford bail. It really does go against "innocent until proven guilty" when you're being treated as if you're guilty right away. Does an innocent person get locked away, fed garbage food, forced to wear institutionalized clothing, and have their belongings and ability to communicate freely taken away? The answer right now is Yes and that's wrong.

If you don't have a few grand laying around for bail and a lawyer, and most Americans don't have $500 for emergencies, you should probably be in favor of this.

The only reason I can see not to support it is if you are wealthy or don't believe you will never be arrested because "you are not a criminal." But we don't just arrest criminals, you can be arrested for forgetting to pay a traffic ticket, or over a wrongful accusation, or just because the cop feels like being a dick.
