This is why using religion as the excuse to create a law is a bad idea. It's not that hard to create a religion claiming the opposite.

The Satanic Temple wouldn't need to exist if separation of church and state existed.

The basis of this argument is retarded and I am an atheist. The whole premise of "You don't have proof for this, so this thing I made up is just as valid" is a fucking weird lens to view the world through. People who think this way are either lying or cannot think in a slightly more abstract way then posting a link to a study they haven't read or understand.

How so?

Magical Purple Dinosaur hiding behind the moon. None of our current technology can detect it. What's to stop someone from jokingly claiming there to be a Yellow Shoe with the same stealth ability, dancing with the Dinosaur? It's a weird thing to argue about and I don't believe such claims should be origin point of laws.

I'd rather have a study link posted than a bible verse.

Humans are not robots. I hate that people online want to debate and argue as if humans are completely logical and rational arguments. Politicians everyday use "fallacies" because they work because the "Reddit Halls of Debate" type shit doesn't exist outside forums.

Your claim that you can't tell the difference between Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, and your purple dinosaur religion shows you're either autistic or being purposefully obtuse. It's just a mind numbing attempt at a "Gotcha".

Your claim that you can't tell the difference between Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, and your purple dinosaur religion

There are many differences between them, yet all of them share the same dinosaur. The lack of "logical humans" is a solvable problem. We all have the ability to step back and recognize our emotions. "I'm mad at this person" or "I like this person" aren't new concepts. If your only excuse is that autistic people are somehow superior that's one hell of a pessimistic view of the world.

If you view it only through an autistic and frankly dishonest lens.

These are nothing but dumb little debate tactics. This is all just pure rhetoric. Again, you're just basing your whole argument on this interpretation I don't agree with. Religion is wrong and in many parts a negative on society but to pretend that Scientology and Islam are the same because I can't hand you a NASA photo of a sky daddy is unbelievably dishonest. There's no peer-reviewed PEW study about this topic so it means nothing to you but people know the difference between an Abrahamic religion and some religion born out of the last 50 years to own some person's overbearing religious parents.

You keep using that word. I'm starting to think it doesn't mean what you think it means.

dishonest lens.

to pretend that Scientology and Islam are the same

The fundamental practices, forms of worship, religious hierarchy, and much more, are all different than the other. I agree with you that one detail doesn't make them the same, but overlooking that singular similarity does them both a disservice.

but people know the difference

And in my personal opinion I find that difference in recognition a matter of sanctified historical context separated by years and a fresh coat of paint.
