As a citizen of a foreign country; you're not. In a way, we foreigners are letting our defenses rot because our weak, stupid leaders think Uncle Sam will step in when the shit hits the fan — which it will because of that very mentality.

The US should be the best US it can be, and then the rest of the western leaders will (hopefully) decide to build up their own national defenses. We have both the capability and the resources, but we lack leaders with the spine to do it.

It'll never happen. European voters would vote out any government which shared the NATO burden fairly.

They also refuse to intervene if any other NATO country was attacked, while expecting the Americans to do so. Not even joking.

Basically they're spoiled children who grew up to be spoiled adults. What do you do when your dependents have no skills, no way to defend themselves, and the only way they continue to exist is by continued payments on your part? They'd die if you forced them to live on their own and move out of the trailer they live in your back yard.

Why is military spending such a negative thing? I get it. America is a bit... over the top to some people. But this notion of having a strong independent defense for every and all countries seems like something to be proud of.
