Before gender dysphoria was picked up as another weapon with which to destabilize society, there was actually progress being made on it. A compelling theory that stuck with me is that trans people are sexually attracted to themselves as the opposite gender. Kind of like the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry is dating a female version of himself. What they get from cross dressing is a sexual gratification, but it has nothing to do with the clothes as is usually assumed. It's more like having a split personality, and the cross dressing brings out this sexually gratifying female/male version of you.

It's too bad any progress that was made on that front will now be destroyed to protect the weapon.
