I think they sickeningly used him as a placeholder and that it isn't about him, it's about whomever the VP is. It's pretty obvious he's got something going on, almost definitely dementia, which is sad and would probably kill him while he's in office if he ends up there.

True. To play some devil's advocate, though, if you're going down anyway, it might be fun to know you were president for the week or two before you are replaced.

Still, one more reason for me to refuse to watch the debates.
