He was being detained under the suspicion of committing a crime. Standard procedure across the planet. He chose to resist and get himself arrested. Then apparently had a heart attack.

The only time they ever will be is if there's a civil war/revolution and they don't manage to fly out in time. They all have their islands/Israel to fly to when things go bad. Their true wealth isn't tangible, so they won't have to worry much about the stuff they leave behind.
