Never gonna happen with the election a few months away

These kinds of petitions don't actually do anything beyond giving the government a finger on the pulse. If enough people sign this, then Trump will know that doing something about the masks could earn him more votes. If the petition doesn't get enough traction, he'll focus on other areas that he thinks will get him more votes. Likewise, if enough people from particular states with mask requirements sign this, the governors of those states may realize this policy will lose them votes.

I am distraught that here in CA, children are required to wear masks. I feel like the restricted oxygen flow cannot be good for their brain and lung development, amongst other potential dangers. I am anxious to get this rule repealed before school starts. There are already concerns about classrooms having high levels of CO2 in them; having a mask on in a room that already is low on oxygen is a bad plan: https://archive.thinkprogress.org/exclusive-elevated-co2-levels-directly-affect-human-cognition-new-harvard-study-shows-2748e7378941/

How's about this? Take all the money from public school, and give it to people so they can afford to homeschool. The school system exists to indoctrinate our youth and babysit Africans. Let it rot.

Personally, I think that is a great idea. BUT, it would take a major re-structuring of our society and culture before that would be feasible. The reality is that our culture does not value children. It's a long and complex discussion, but the quick TLDR is that in most families both parents have to work and there just isn't enough time or energy at the end of a long work day to invest in the kids. Last semester I spent 6 hours a day, every school day, doing homeschool. Most of the other families in his class could not invest that time in their kids, instead, the kids played video games all day long.
