If the USC didn't require a POTUS to be a living human, the Dems would rather just have a mannequin as the candidate. No awkward gaffes, and it can just resign prior to even getting sworn into office. That way, whatever unelectable lunatic the DNC decides for the VP slot can just assume the office.
