This is why the polls are meaningless. If you can be fired for saying "Trump is our president." you sure as hell aren't going to be answering questions from complete strangers claiming to the pollsters.

Polls are meant to manipulate voters not count them

That's just what happened in 2016 elections. I saw numerous articles (after the elections, of course) where people essentially said that people were simply lying to pollsters when they called and asked them if they planned to vote for Donald Trump. They said no, because it was entirely socially unacceptable to do so. I've even heard radio interviews with NYTimes reporters covering the 2016 elections that they were simply lied to. Whenever they would try and get on the inside of people who supported Trump, they would deny that altogether, again to avoid the shaming that follows.

Hillary was leading by many points in all of these polls. In fact, according to the polls she had a landslide victory coming to her.

Oh well.
