It's BS. There's no "we'd be much better off without jews and central banks"

Test: https://8values.github.io/index.html

Since SaidIt is considered a "middle-of-the-road" type website for discussion when compared to Reddit and Voat (both hard-leaning left and right websites respectively), I thought it would be cool to see where we actually stand. b00m, I'm middle-of-the-road lol.

Trusting the markets just seems to me to mean trusting people who control the markets. Either way we have to put trust in some people, might as well pick the people who's job description it is to not be completely self-serving. And i guess i don't put that much stock into traditions.

i guess i don't put that much stock into traditions.

How come? I feel tradition is important, it affects everything! Even how we raise our kids! Tradition also has a big affect on our culture, and I think culture is also pretty important - it's what makes life interesting! If every ice cream shop had nothing but vanilla and chocolate ice cream, ice cream would get boring pretty quick. Keeping tradition and culture alive is what makes different countries and nations so interesting, especially their backstories and how they got to where they are today. If we lose that, then things get boring (and possibly even controlled) quick. It's what gives life variety!

Much of our North American culture is engineered.

Christmas has been reheated many times over. The Xmas tree is from Queen Victoria.

Diamonds are actually semi-precious stones controlled by cabals. They weren't critical to marriages until just 70 or 80 years ago.

Every mass media thing is.

Culture has it's pros and cons. A lot of it is stupid. It's good until something better comes along.

Then again, almost the same could be said for progress.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I'm talking about the cultures of the world, not just the "great melting pot experiment"!

There are many traditions and cultures still in tact, but no doubt, you are correct, many things have been manipulated or created out of pure manipulation and became tradition or embedded in culture. But like there is this negative aspect, there still are the positive aspects where good things still got passed down or are embedded in one's cultural traditions, and are still alive today.

If you put Japan next to the UK, you'll see a great difference in culture, tradition and values. Not saying one is better than the other, but both can be equally appreciated.

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ya. I started with "North America". I agree, that there are great cultures out there. However, I feel like many of those peoples might be prisoners of their own cultures.

IMsubjectiveO, I would like to see every country kind of do what I imagine they did in Europe (I've never been) - before all the anti-culture nonsense and forced immigration shit. In my mind I picture some people in Switzerland in lederhosen with with jugs of beer and wheels of cheese while others in sleek architecture and precision watches designing fonts - and similar stereotypes from top to bottom across Europe. Freedom, to be traditional, modern, or whatever.

I can even look at the "culture" in Canada and regret that most of it is just as bland as our North American architecture, but there are exceptions and regions that can't help but hold their own a bit more - from the Pacific NorthWest to Muskoka to the Maritimes.

Regardless, all of it is overlaid with a general "Anglo / Western" culture like a universal corporate default that is shrink wrapping the world. It's this default consumerist gentrification that I'd like to really see slowed down or stopped, and maybe reversed in favour of independent culture (ie. Burning Man, memes, flash mobs, DIY makers, preppers, open source, co-ops, communities, etc).

Canada has the MAPL system for music to not be drowned out by American culture. Q: What is Canadian culture? A: Anything a Canadian does. The radios had to play 33% Canadian content (thus the band name KonKan). Every album has a MAPL icon for Music, Artist, Producer, Lyrics and to be considered "Canadian" it has to have 2/4 or more. Of course there was some chicanery with ex-pats who'd moved to Hollywood and so on, but it worked for the most part.

I don't know how you might apply that to corporate culture at large.

I like that it's there to learn about, to consider and perhaps to engage in from time to time optionally but i don't like feeling tied down to it. I like to reassess our new circumstances as we go along and to feel free to do things differently.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

If you're saying we shouldn't be cut off to new possibilities, chapters or stories just because of tradition, I agree fully! I just don't think we should abandon or forget about our beginnings and what made us who we are, either, no matter what route we go down or where you're from.

[–]magnora7 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

It's saying I'm basically the same, a centrist but with more of a slight lean. https://8values.github.io/results.html?e=69.2&d=51.1&g=68.7&s=59.8

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

cough-Social Liberalism-cough

You're right though, it is basically considered a centrist by some haha.

[–]magnora7 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah I really am not a fan of the label "social liberalism" to describe myself that it gave me. I consider myself a centrist, or social libertarian, or an anarchist libertarian. Social liberalism is a little too close to Neo-liberalism (limousine liberalism) for my taste. I almost considered not posting my results because I didn't like the label it gave me so much lol

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The test does state that it's in beta and its "definitions/results" may not be accurate. I get what you're saying and how you personally feel about things, I pretty much would describe myself the same/similar and view things in a similar light.

Our test results honestly aren't all that different to be honest and I got centrist, you're mainly just more progressive vs traditional in your beliefs than I am, according to the questions we answered.

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (4 children)

It seems I'm a:

  • Economic Axis: Communist
  • Diplomatic Axis: Cosmopolitan
  • Civil Axis: Anarchist
  • Societal Axis: Revolutionary

Closest Match: Libertarian

I'll do the test for real tomorrow.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

I'll do the test for real tomorrow.

I clicked your results before I read your comment, I was like holy shit that's so radically funny he had to be joking for each answer, cuz the test is long lol!! If that was real I was going to commend you.

You must have selected some funny ass answers for each of the questions lmaoooo (that unfortunately, some people do believe in lol..)

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

If you hadn't literally posted your test result link with the percentages I wouldn't have event thought to game the system.

I actually selected the extremes I lean toward - ie. equality over markets, though I'd prefer "fairness" over "equality", world over nation, liberty over authority and progress over tradition - a zigzag, but we'll see what my results are tomorrow when I'm awake for it.

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

So I took the test. Easier than I thought. Didn't like the questions - all to ambiguous. There are pros and cons to a lot of the issues so not very definitive, but I recon effective enough for the masses, especially those who may think in simpler terms.

I zigzag much like my previous joke post, but on average it all evens out to be very centrist.

Social + Peaceful + Libertarian + Progressive = Closest Match: Social Libertarianism

https://8values.github.io/results.html?e=68.6&d=73.9&g=83.7&s=66.6

I used to call myself an Anarcho-Marxist - liking anarchism and worker coops. But there are the 2 larger kinds of Marxism I don't like, and they're lumped in with the fact that all big government is evil to me. So now I just call myself a minarchist or voluntarist. Social Libertarian works too.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

voluntarist

I get that, I've honestly always considered myself something of the same since highschool. I discovered a lot of this stuff at a young age after witnessing 9/11, being a little kid with internet access. By the time I got into highschool, I had already decided all governments would eventually fall to some form of corruption which is why I felt I was an "Anarchist".

But I wasn't an edgy, "destroy shit", fuck the law, kind of anarchist. I realize there has to be some type of balance. I kinda always admired the Native American's way of life and culture, passing down tradition from generation to generation, and everyone being apart of the community because they genuinely wanted to, and wanted to work to be better and stronger as a group (not individuals), for the next generations to come, and current. I know there were faults with their lifestyle too, but it's the psychology of their culture, tradition and everyone (or the majority of) the community having respect for it and wanting to further it. The community seeing each other as one big extended family. No matter the generation or age, all willingly respected tradition and the community for the greater good of their group, and this kept order.

Raddle, not Reddit is far left

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

tbh, I've never heard of "Raddle", but in my experience, Reddit and its admins are "far-left" or play whatever narrative they're bought, paid and told to play. I'm sure many would agree with me, as many here are refugees of Reddit's radical left censorship, forcing them to come here lol.

(I'm jk, I have nothing against Voat outside of how hostile it can be, I came here from Voat AND from IP2 when that was b& on Reddit because this was a chiller alternative, so I'm guilty of being among the worst of both sides)

[–]JasonCarswellVoluntaryist 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Wow. You don't seem like either of those, from what I've seen. RationalWiki (anything but rational) also has a thing for goats.

I landed as a dirty centrist as well, https://8values.github.io/results.html?e=59.6&d=27.8&g=55.2&s=63.6, by way of being socially progressive but not hating my own country. A rare breed indeed.

Always found this test far more accurate than the political compass, many versions of which use weasel wording to try and turn everyone into libertarians.

Don't worry, I won't punch you in the face.

Heh, it's not advisable anyways.

I accepted the nature of humanity a long time ago so it's a fairly appropriate label. Sucks to be deprived of free speech in most places; but, as GLR once said, "If you believe in evolution, you gotta be a nazi if you think about it long enough." He's painfully correct - although if I'd had a normal path through life and never moved through various socioeconomic strata, I'd have refused to believe it on principle.

All men aren't created equal, they never have been. Doesn't mean people should be deprived of liberty or treated badly because they lost the genetic lottery, but failure to acknowledge reality leads to all sorts of awful real world outcomes and massive waste. For instance, Baltimore’s black public school students have a mean IQ of 76. Trying to give them the same curriculum that the average Asian child in LA would receive is absurd. Certainly lift the exceptional ones out of the standard, but aim the standard at a reasonable target based on area demographics so that you don't get horrid results. It's not "systemic racism" holding these kids back from being doctors and lawyers, or even graduating at all - it's their lack of intelligence granting genes, and being set up for failure by a system that refuses to acknowledge biological reality. In fact the system considers such acknowledgements of fact a great sin, worthy of unpersoning anyone who dare mention them.

[–]RuckFeddit 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

To be fair none of these surveys give questions that are clear enough to accurately represent anything. This one had more than a couple of tricky ones too.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I found it to be one of the better ones tbh. They just give you a statement, and without any political ideals in mind, you answer it honestly; do you strongly agree or disagree, kinda agree/disagree or feel neutral towards the statement? The compass one is more biased imo, the questions were well-balanced here and weren't tongue-twisters imo.

But I'm sure none of these tests out there are actually accurate, the test even admits it's in beta and may not be accurate. It's just cool for estimations if you answer honestly and follow the rules.

Regarding the reliability of the test, I'm just saying it's better than the last one I took :) (https://www.politicalcompass.org/chart?ec=-3.25&soc=-6.62)

As for my beliefs, they come from the constant desire to improve my privacy online (I'm not 100% liberal because that would mean no regulations against companies like Google that we have in EU)

For the economic axis, I can't look to my country's political parties for that. So I take Bernie as an example.
