I found the meat:

But the President and most of his conservative critics basically agree that American patriotism means certain “values,” including capitalism and love of Israel.

There were large swathes of voters who voted Obama and then voted Trump.

Big govt programs, tariffs, not decreasing deficits or govt programs, Nanny statism etc, gun control, govt, are all things Trump seems to support, positions that are essentially the same as bill Clinton era democrats.

I'm not sure The "conservative critics" value any of the things actual conservatives espouse. Most "conservative critics" really want a return to the GOP that is essentially Bush era Republican status quo, not conservative at all. In fact they hate conservatives.

Most of the "conservative critics" in the media's eyes are folks like the Rick Wilson, the fox news contributor and RNC/Republican strategist who was yucking it up with Don Lemon recently.

The thing they can't stand more than democrats, are individuals who might think for themselves. They hate Trump because Trump ironically latched on to many of those folks on the right. The guy who was sitting at weddings with the Clinton's and hob-knobbing with celebrities goes from A lister to persona non-grata, simply because he said he was one of those ppl.

They don't hate him, they hate you.
