Thre is a digital watermarking system in play, where the name of the cinema, date of show and even the screen number is embedded into the image invisibly using digimark watermarking, which is built into DCI compliant projectors, the only ones that can decode the film, which is sent to the projector encypted, and decoded by a same card that does the watermarking. That card is coated with a special self-destructive potting component, that destroys the decryption system if it is damaged.

So. You might get a good cam once, but they'll soon know where the cam came from... and enforcement actions will follow.

To break the watermarking, you need to seriously degrade the image, so that the fast fourier water mark extraction fails.

DCI. you can look it up or just take the word of someone who installed DCI compliant systems.

Hmm, good point.
