LOL this is literally propaganda. Reddit brain here. That isn't an "NI", it's called a wolfsangel and was a Nazi regiment symbol during WWII.

As I made clear it does look a lot like it.

I'm sure the similarity is neither accidental nor unrelated to why they don't use it now.

However, Azov always claimed that it represents the “idea of the nation,” and which unites the letters “I” and “N” in old cyrillic script. And the cross-piece of a wolfsangel is very short, because it's not functional, just where the chain used to be attached. Whereas in the "NI" of the old Azov Battalion, it's longer than the hooks.

That argument would work, if they also weren't caught with definite Nazi symbols like SS-Totenkopf and swastikas in every second press release.

The black sun is, as far as I'm aware, unambiguous. When it was a militia, the Azov battalion was headed by white supremacists, and some of the people who joined shared that ideology.

But since being absorbed into the national guard of ukraine, they have new leadership, and no political affiliation. Hence the abandoning of Nazi-symbols.

Regardless of their ideology or lack of, they have been known for acts of torture, murder of POWs and civilians, coating bullets in pig fat to kill Muslims, desecrating corpses, and many other barbaric actions. At even the first glance, they look like bloodthirsty sociopaths and criminals, which they are. And the Zelensky decided to trade them, instead of the 20 year old conscripts who are still stuck in Russian prisons. Both countries are despicable shitholes with no respect for human life.

Other way around.

instead of the 20 year old conscripts who are still stuck in Russian prisons

Who are they?

Azov's crimes have been documented by Amnesty International and other organizations. Some of their members were involved in racist violent attacks on football fans in Europe, as well as on civilians in Ukraine. Before the invasion, their press coverage in the West was very negative, and funding for them was banned in the US in a 2017 bill. Multiple videos were made of them torturing/executing POW's. Other battalions like Aidar and Tornado were even worse. The latter have been convicted of horrific acts of torture and rape against civilians, but have since been released and are currently fighting for the Ukrainian army.....

This is on Azov's Wikipedia page:

In 2016, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch received several credible allegations of abuse and torture by the regiment.[223] Reports published by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) documented looting of civilian homes and unlawful detention and torture of civilians between September 2014 and February 2015 "by Ukrainian armed forces and the Azov regiment in and around Shyrokyne".[224][225]

Another OHCHR report documented an instance of rape and torture, writing: "A man with a mental disability was subject to cruel treatment, rape and other forms of sexual violence by 8 to 10 members of the 'Azov' and 'Donbas' (another Ukrainian battalion) battalions in August–September 2014. The victim's health subsequently deteriorated and he was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital."[225] A report from January 2015 stated that a Donetsk Republic supporter was detained and tortured with electricity and waterboarding and struck repeatedly on his genitals, which resulted in his confessing to spying for pro-Russian militants.

I have photo/video evidence, as well as info on the 20 year old conscripts who are still imprisoned, but it all comes from Telegram, I'll get back with it when my phone is repaired and I gain back access.

Sounds like that in the few months around the re-oganziation into the National Guard, there were 8-10 members who were torturing people they suspected of spying.
