Eww - you can buy those cookies for cheap at Walmart, unexpired!

Yeah, but I wouldn't get to experience how a 6 year old cookie tasted then.

I was looking in an old box of stuff and came across them.

well - thanks for letting us know they're no longer tasty. I fucking LOVE that particular cookie (but never see it in other countries....)

You ever watch that guy on YouTube who eats old military rations? I generally try to keep a stockpile of food. How and how long you can store things and still have them taste good, safely eat despite flavor degradation, consume only in dire need, or toss interests me and it's practical.

I've not seen it, but I have eaten an MRE (military ration: meal ready to eat) and it was - well - starchy and somewhat disgusting. But I can see how that would be preferred if I were in the field. I used to take Beenie Weenies with me on fishing trips. Haven't seen those in ages. Yep, canned food can survive rather well, or so I've heard. Seems the advice for those cookies is that they'd be OK if they'd been frozen in 2017.

Rancid fat tastes bad and isn't healthy, but it will keep you alive. In a survival situation I'd keep the cookies. Thankfully this is not one.

I ate an MRE and it tasted just fine. That being said, it was relatively fresh, one month frozen after being prepared. Was yours old?

Mine was only a couple years old, and was OK. Lots of carbs.
