The sharpening is rough. It came dull. And D3 isn't the easiest to work on. I sharpened it a little with a diamond plate, it needs more. The blade is very wide wedge shaped, it needs to have a much shallower angle of attack.

And I suck at sharpening.

Kiridashi are a blade that's only sharpened on one side. Japanese style.

The blade is D2 tool steel, excellent stuff, it compares favorably even to modern super steels except for its corrosion resistance.

The wife knotted the paracord for me. Her and my niece made a night of making lanyards, they had fun.

I went with neon yellow because I hate losing knives and I want it very visible. Lanyards are handy in case you ever need to turn your knife into a spear or need a length of paracord for whatever other reason.

Looks very well crafted, and the D2 appears to be the best tool steel (because it's much harder than other steels), one of the best for edge retention and especially a balance of other benefits. Not that I know anything, but am now reading about it here and here. I'll have a closer look at the market for these.
