I read once a Zippo was once recovered from the belly of an ocean fish. It lit, first strike.

Based on eBay prices it's worth $25 to $30, so not exactly an investment piece but neat to have.

Nice! I feel like getting one now for my bong sessions. And they're made in the US too. Cthulhu calleth.

I don't like them for weed because I can slightly taste the fuel (naphtha) they use and they don't angle well for a bowl because it uses a wick. It isn't a big deal lighting a cigarette but bud, I use a Bic.
The nice things about a zippo though are it's made in the US like you noted, they can burn just about any fuel in a pinch, they basically last forever since the flint, wick, and wadding are all replaceable, they're wind resistant, they don't self extinguish which can be handy in some situations, and they sound and look very cool.
Downsides: the fuel taste, the fuel evaporates if it sits a while, and they require more care (refilling, replacing flints, extending and trimming the wick) than a disposable.

Yeah, Bic Lighters, despite he fact that they're disposable, are hard to beat. Thanks for your insight. I'll stick with cheap and low-maintenance. They're also made in the USA or France.
