I'll take the intimacy simulation unit... because if the cuddle setting....

Wow, that was quick. People are already surrendering to their future enslavement.

It'll be fun once or twice, then the subconscious of your brain wont be tricked into thinking it's a person anymore, and the thrill will be gone. If you've ever had a sex toy, that's how it is. That's just the physical aspect of it, there's not even a plausible chance of it substituting the communication / emotional companionship of a person.

Not calling you out specifically, I just see a ton of hype around these sexbots on the internet. They're not going to even close to resemble the company of, or sex with, a human being. They're just a fleshlight attached to a giant doll with a couple animatronics.

Haven't watched it, but I sincerely doubt the tech is there. Maybe this film could change my view on it, but as of now, I don't see how anyone who has ever dated, had sex, had a relationship can seriously think sex bots will replace women.

I have yet to watch it too. It's about an A.I. pseudo-relationship. Add a sexbot and you're good. No arguments, no expensive habits, no jealousy, no moodswings, no flaw-dwelling, no age-ism, no waiting for the bathroom. Raise a virtual child and earn points!

Might be time to watch it and wank and cry myself to sleep...

It'd have to pass the turing test for me to even fathom seeing it as anything other than a piece of plastic, which AI just isn't close to. The notion of AI robots that are lifelike and pass the turing test in our lifetimes doesn't seem plausible.

Which Turning test?

Give it another 20-30 years and it should be upon us.

As for lifelike robots - that's a whole other ball of wax. I wouldn't want it lifelike anyway. I'd want a customizable harem.
