On the fatties show last night they had a woman who was well over 700lb and had given birth.

The kid looked 90 years old and was probably only 7. He'd seen a lot.

It does domesticate people and make actual unrest much less likely.

Same reason they banned bodybuilding in China during Maoism. You don't want legions of physically strong and capable men organizing if you want to protect your government's established power.
