I'm surprised that it's all relatively modern, given your thoughts on modernity. Also, I doubt that music is totally subjective; just to take one example, minor key is universally felt as melancholy, even to those who have absolutely no knowledge of music theory.

Different areas peaked at different time. Art and architecture went into decline long ago. But as a programmer, I think programming and music peaked at around the same time, basically between 1960 and 2000. I love a lot of the programming from this time period. By 2000, everything was in decline. By 2010, everything was shit.
