How easily can American conservatives be manipulated?

I would say the modern conservative is an improvement over the conservative of 20 years ago. 20 years ago the conservative was a corporatist and an Israeli nationalist. Today the conservative is populist and an American nationalist. 20 years ago the conservative was pro-war, because war was in Israel's interests. But today the conservative is anti-war, because war is against America's interests.

My question is: How easily can American conservatives be manipulated into supporting stupid positions again?

Just throw out some crazy ass conspiracy theory websites. My wife and in-laws will eat that shit up.

I guess some progress has been made. Now we need to go the full distance in completely abandoning Enlightenment ideals. No more universal suffrage, equality etc.
