The way Google displays its results it lists them by popularity. Pages that got the most clicks from people who searched for the same thing as you are listed at the top, and pages that no one clicks on are impossible to find. This makes Google a horrible tool for researching any obscure topic, even when I use very obvious keywords that are strongly related to the passage I am looking for. The Google "advanced search syntax" such as quotation marks and the + symbol used to work many years ago but now it is completely unreliable and almost never worth using. So for religious studies, I have all the texts downloaded to my computer and I research using exact string match or in rare cases regex. This is infinitely more useful than Google for researching religious texts.
