I have spent too much time and energy being frustrated by packages that claim to be "easy open", but in reality cannot be easily opened. These packages have what looks like a tab you can pull, or an indent along a dotted line that you can tear. But when you try to do it, it just results in frustration. These "easy open" things are just for show - almost none of them work. And even many products that used to have legitimately easy-to-open packaging are no longer easy to open. For example, this Columbus Salami that I buy used to have a "Peel Here" thing that worked, but with the more recent packages it doesn't work when you try to peel where it tells you to peel, because the flap is completely fused to the package, even though the "Peel Here" text is deceptively still there.
I am tired of spending so much time trying to open packages according to the manufacturer's instructions, only to find out it is impossible to open the package their way. From now on, I will only only put minimal effort into getting these "easy open" things to work - if it doesn't immediately open, I will use scissors or a knife.
