How is Elon Musk able to get a cult following?

If you watch videos of him, he is uncharismatic. I thought charisma is required to get stupid people to follow you.

Okay, if you want people to follow you the first thing you need to do is stop thinking that everyone but you is stupid. Or, at the very least, DO NOT SAY IT IN PUBLIC. Also, don't think of yourself as the greatest thing ever. That kind of ego coupled with you thinking that everyone is stupid will get you on everyone's hate list real fast. Also, get some humility! Sheesh! An ego as big as yours would be an ugly sight even to Stevie Wonder. (He's a blind musician who had a very successful musical career.)

He's successful, he's rich, he's extremely intelligent. He's charming. He's original and quite unique. What more does the guy need? Besides; even Trump didn't have all of that and look at the following he's got!

    It is very difficult for anyone who isn't modern scum to accomplish anything because he will find no one willing to work with him. But even if he does accomplish something (as I have), if it is actually good then the modern scum will just hate him more for producing something good (as happened to me).

    Let me know if you DON'T have a cult following when you start a new auto company, a rocket company to fly to Mars (oh and return the rocket) and a company to build a high speed underground rail.

    Elon Musk appeals to techies, not the masses. He is charismatic to modern techno-scum. He talks about big ideas and never attacks the idolatry of modern techno-scum.

    I think he is full of charisma. He is blunt and honest and the average person is uncomfortable with this. He also follows through with the many ideas he has or at least tries.
