I wonder if these guys ever worked in Silicon Valley. I did for years. It isn't kindergarten, rather it is the fake American smile taken to its logical extreme. Fit in and look happy or you will get hell. It's all about fitting in. Technical competence is irrelevant.

I ran the engineering department of a (successful) Silicon Valley startup and I took the opposite approach which made me quite a pariah there. And judging applicants for programming positions purely on competence using an objective test meant that I didn't hire women which was a major problem.

I believe your assessment is accurate, judging by Silicon Valley's politics. But I think there is a kindergarten aspect to it, and it's to do with the arrested development of the types of clever idiots who work there and the companies' coddling and exploitation of the same.

Maybe a more descriptive title would be something like: "kindergarten for self-hating narcissistic overgrown children who sell out their own future and their country's in exchange for basking for a while in the illusion that they are creating some wonderful enlightened techno-utopia".
