His points are valid. Leave the decision to the individuals, not the state. The state should have no say in the proper course of action for a pregnancy should things get complicated.

I think if there was a responsible government that really enacted the will of the people and could actually be trusted - it would be beneficial for it to try the whole "adoption/foster" system again - but with new management and new rules.

It couldn't hurt to try - even while you let it (abortion) be legal, revamping/refunding the whole adoption system, could likely help reduce the overall numbers of people using the (abortion) services.

Responsible government is only half of the equation and is far less obtainable with the standard of red vs blue politics. The people need to have the knowledge to function as well, which is also an issue due to most taking things at face value or outright disinterest/complacency.

Regardless, it was stated that the state needs to stop thinking it is saving people and remove laws that the government doesn't really have any say in, that to me is the biggest take away and he is right. Government shouldn't be there to complicate things on an issue like this, it's pointless and will just make the people seek resolution elsewhere.

Having abortion be legal doesn't necessarily mean the numbers will skyrocket for that category. If you apply the standard trend, at most there will be an increase and then the numbers will taper off, but I do agree that a better functioning adoption system would help mitigate numbers for anything that isn't a medical emergency etc. That would have helped even before this with abortion numbers.

It's just refreshing to see something being removed that really had no place being inacted, should a couple or a woman find themselves facing complications they no longer have limited options, everything is available to ensure their care and their choices are priority, not the government's.

Americans say loving Communism means that you are smart.
