LOL. If Krugman said it, that's pretty much a guarantee that they won't be.

[–]MagicMike 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep, he’s a hard core lib so he’s insane.

[–]YoMamma[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (15 children)

As if Krugman had to say anything.

The first to say and do what Krugman reminds us of have been Trump, Republicans, and the activities of Trump's first 4 years.

We'll see all of those Republican policies that fucked up the economy during the last Trump presidency, and they're promised worse policies going forward.

[–]xoenix 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

In 1998, Krugman wrote that by 2005, it would become clear that the "Internet's impact on the economy has been no greater than the fax machine's." This has been notably inaccurate given the profound transformation the internet has brought to the global economy.

After Donald Trump's election in 2016, Krugman predicted that if the question was when markets would recover, "a first-pass answer is never." He also foresaw a global recession "with no end in sight." Instead, markets surged, and no such global recession materialized during Trump's term.

Krugman dismissed Bitcoin multiple times, notably in 2015, stating it had "no future."

In 2021, Krugman and other economists downplayed the threat of inflation from government stimulus, which turned out to be incorrect as inflation rates rose significantly in subsequent years.

This guy is profoundly retarded and believes in commie 2+2=5 math, where the extra comes from our ongoing, collective loss of wealth through inflation.

He's written 100s of articles and 27 books, on the economy, which is essentially about predictions. Were five of his predictions wrong? At least that many.

The 1998 prediction: absolutely wrong, but I don't know the context. Seems odd that anyone would have said that. One think I can confirm about 1998-2000 is that there had been a lot of investment in online tech stocks that tanked. Anyone following Krugman's advice not to invest too much in websites would have done well.

2016: One bit that he almost got correct is that the US was in recession in 2020 due to Trump and Republican $10 trillion in tax cuts for the rich, and the spread of COVID by avoiding it entirely when it was first spreading in Europe. The US was so late to do anything at airports, and still didn't quarantine, or recomend masks properly, and to this day there are numerous anti-vaxxers who still believe all of those Republican lies about vaccines, to the point it helped get Trump elected again.

2015: Bitcoin has been a bad investment for most people, expecially if they didn't have the incredible wealth to 'pump and dump' their favorite version of bitcoin. It's a volatile market that's not reliable for most of us

2021: The inflation rate rose because salaries increased and because of massive investments in 2021-2 (Dem-led government), and then have been on the natural decrease since 2022, because those infrastructure, salary, and other investments improved the economy. In late 2024, inflation was down to 2% (which is INCREDIBLE, in just 4 years, and brought the US out of the 2020 recession created by Republican $10 trillion tax cuts and anti-vax campaigns that spread COVID).

Something you've got to admit is that he is certainly one of the leading economists and 99% of the time absolutely correct in his approaches and advice. (No he's not retarded; wtf.)

[–]xoenix 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

That's a lot of words to re-iterate that if he makes a prediction, he's probably wrong.

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And you've kindly provided enough words to remind me what I'm dealing with, when trying to respectfully reply to your misleading comment (as you're unable to produce reasonable counter-arguments).

[–]xoenix 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (10 children)

You thought Biden wasn't demented and that Kamala was a good candidate, and that both could easily beat Trump.

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

And I still believe it.

Dominion voting machines are rigged.

[–]xoenix 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (8 children)

Then Biden lost twice.

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Biden's not lost a presidential election.

[–]ID10T 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Hahaha you are so silly

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Hahaha you think he got 8 MILLION fake votes.

[–]ID10T 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

You gonna stage an insurrection? 😂 Damn dude you really down bad

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Why?

Trump NIGGER obviously lost by 8 million votes 4 years ago, and this time he won by only 2 million fake votes.

😂

[–]wlh0242 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I seem to remember having money in my pocket, gas in my Truck, wasn't worried about World War 3 and was able to afford food during Trump's years in office. I don't remember this under Biden's term.

[–]YoMamma[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's before the Trump admin and Republicans tanked the economy with $10 trilion in tax cuts and by spreading COVID in 2019/20, and what you've seen since then is an impressive 4-year recovery (which will be squandered again so that we'll see after additional tax cuts, tariffs &c another recession by 2028). You and others are believing the disinformation from Republicans that the economy should have been good under Biden, though Dems inherited a RECESSION from the Republican government. The problem with much of the US these days is this kind of stupidity about the economy and the lies they are willing to believe about it. Dems fixed the economy, while Republicans brought about a recession. It's been the SAME pattern since the 1980s.

[–]ID10T 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Only a libtard will complain about their quality of life improving and rejoice when their quality of life declines. It's a self-hating death cult.

[–]Karce33 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Literally the govern me harder daddy meme

[–]MagicMike 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

It should be taken as an axiom that all liberals are insane, evil, or both. Once it’s accepted, then everything libs do will make sense. Your city burns down? Who is running it? Your government is 36 trillion in debt. Who did that? A fat man in drag is showing his balls to your daughter? Who permits that? An illegal alien rapes and murders? Who stopped the wall on Day One?

Insane, evil, or both?

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 4 fun1 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

You're revealing your level of intelligence here. Indeed this in a nutshell is what one gets from right wing disinformation media. You'll see more of the same for four years, dividing the nation into people who believe lies like this, and those who are able to think. Awesome

[–]MagicMike 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I see you’ve yet to accept the axiom, hence your confusion. Of course, if you’re a liberal (and therefore insane), no sane argument can reach you. Like Spearman’s g, you’re hard wired that way.

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

bullshit

[–]MagicMike 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

100,000 years of evolution cannot simply be ignored. Studies of identical twins separated at birth shows that we are 80% hard wired, 20% personal experience. Therefore, if you are a lib (which seems likely), then there’s an excellent likelihood that you are insane.

[–]chadwickofwv 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's both.

[–]Brewdabier 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

“terrible” economic policy ideas.

So like Bidens economic policy ideas, who ever is in office the people who voted for them are fucked.

[–]YoMamma[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I suppose we could consider better pay and increasing jobs in the past four years, which were higher than during the three previous presidencies: https://www.axios.com/2025/01/10/iden-job-gains-obama-trump

[–]Brewdabier 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

LMFAO, yes people are getting better pay in some sectors like food service industry now who is paying for the added cost ?. The consumers are so the $16.50 per hour an hour California "California Labor Code section 510." does little when a hambuger cost $8.99 at in and out. Idiots fall for any shit. https://in-n-out-menu.com/

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

So you want wages to remain low and corporate profits to continue to soar, as they've done since the mid-1980s? Fuck that. Can you live on less than $16.50/hour in CA? Nope. And globally, prices for food have increased.

[–]Brewdabier 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Where and or when did I say I want wages to remain low , WHERE AND WHEN DID I SAY THAT Mr. shit for brains.

[–]YoMamma[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

WTF? You want to insult me, while you have no clue what you just wrote, imbecile?

Have someone read to you the comments above and this explanation:

1) You claimed Biden is responsible for terrible economic policies

2) I proved you wrong by noting that Dem policies improved pay and the number of jobs, a lot

3) You apparently had no clue that you were corrected, as you LMFAO about this improved pay scale, telling the LIE that this would pass on the extra cost to the consumer [it's a lie because this extra cost should be part of the profits and should not in most cases pass on to the consumer]; and you tell another LIE by relating all of the pay improvements to a hamburger that costs a couple dollars more [which however is the decision of the CORPORATION to pass the extra expanse to the customer rather than take a teeny tiny cut in profits in the short term, because it's known that better pay per worker often results in better service and productivity. The opposite is true for CEOs.

4) THUS, in response to your whining about the price of burgers because someone was given a LIVING WAGE, I note that reversing the situation - to make you happy about burger prices - would mean that "you want wages to remain low and corporate profits to continue to soar" as has been the Republican economic policy since the mid-80s.

So which is it?: Dems improved the economy, wages and number of jobs? or Dems made burgers expensive, when instead they should have kept wages below the standard of living?

Another anti-American jew. His opinion is irrelevant

[–]WoodyWoodPecker 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (16 children)

YoMomma is Anti-American as well. The only thing wrong with Trump's first term is that he had to deal with COVID that was not his fault. Biden had 20% inflation the first two years and now food prices are too high. The poor and middle-class either can't afford to buy food or have to borrow money from credit cards in order to eat.

[–]YoMamma[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (15 children)

Oh fuck off. Anyone supporting Republican grift should be hanged as a traitor. You're anti-American because you didn't vote for Harris, who would have continued the amazing economic progress of the past four years. Now you're fucked.

And were you brain dead when Trump and Repugs REFUSED to protect Americans from COVID while it spread in its first two months? Were you completely unaware of that?

And you know how economies in the US work? Republicans give themselves $10 trillion in tax cuts, borrow that money from China, rack up the deficit and then they spread COVID so that the combined problems caused the RECESSION in 2019/20 that REQUIRED investment when Biden and Dems were in office the first two years. With INVESTMENT comes a bit of inflation. What is that inflation now? 2%

The poor and middle class are recovering from the Republican RECESSION of 4 years go, and would have continued recovering if Harris were elected.

So get your facts straight, anti-American MAGAt.

[–]WoodyWoodPecker 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

U MAD BRO?

Trump had made operation warp speed to develop the vaccine but Biden took credit for it when it was finished. It took a few years to develop it.

Harris is incompetent and can't give a speech without laughing. Every time she laughs she lies.
