Please, for the love of God take the cruise option! Canada is cold and shitty!!! Please don't come!!!!

Also, can you imagine the people on this cruise? It would be the wokest of woke trips ... For four years!!! How the fuck will the ship operate with everyone offended by every port they stop in? I wouldn't want to be the cruise director.

It'll be hilarious to see the racism on display from these muppets as they condescend to and paternalize the "poor, oppressed PoC" in any port not located in a white country.

id love to live in canada. i love the snow. im a northern born soul, through and through. i think the cruise ships might be fun for a year. and that price it actually sounds pretty decent. i learned how to cook from a guatemalan fleeings the nazis in the 70's, whom ended up head chef on a cruise liner. he cooked penguin. pretty fucking gnarly.

To me snow is like traffic. When I visited NYC all the congestion and traffic jams were a novelty. As a tourist we have nothing even close to this chaos and it was all part of the entertainment. We didn't really have to be any where at any given time and we only had a week to deal with it so it was kinda fun!

Snow is alot like this. If you don't live in it for months it's the greatest thing. Cosy sweaters, hot drinks, downhill skiing, there are lots of fun things to do but for me snow is brushing the car off at 6:00am (Pitch Black too. No sunrise until almost 7:30)) in -10 with a 60km/h wind. It's shoveling and storms that hit 100km/h winds. It's elderly relatives slipping and breaker their arms.

Having lived with it for 40+ years I would be quite happy to never see another snowflake again!

NYC is alright. I like it like a tourist. Living there sounds damn near impossible if you want a 1 bedroom. but i would live in a city only if to get to know people.

I beg to differ, let all the fools go north to "greener pastures", only to discover that crown countries are a shit hole for human rights and good luck getting some of that "free" healthcare.

Canada is way worse off than america these days, the corruption is protected behind the crown's shield.

Like Ive said a hundred times, wish I had never come to this shit hole. Come here from appalachia thinking things would be better, and they werent.

Only to get poisoned by freon by a million dollar company like arca canada. Then have nova scotia tell me that oh no, freon cant cause irregular heartbeat, its all in your head!

Fuck canada, with every ounce of my spirit.

Like god damn, i spent years begging for a parathryoid hormone test, begging to see a endocronologist. Only for the shit head to tell me that the low phosphorous was normal and that I just needed to take more vitamin d.

Bout on par with the "specialist" from alberta who claimed that my heart function was perfectly normal while refusing to acknowledge what it was doing at night while I was sleeping.

Corrupt from coast to fucking coast.

Revenue, $12.8 million ; Employees, 1 (1 on RocketReach) ;Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B3B 1L2, CA

And them and nova scotia can claim ignorance on the cardiac sensitizing from refrigerant issue. I hope these people burn in hell, I say a prayer every night.

Also just to clarify, I dont know if the phosphorous issue is related to the 200/160 blood pressure I was having for 9 months.

I figure it is, some kinda kidney damage from that.

let all the fools go north

TBO I was hoping they will go on the cruise instead. We got enough of them here already. We don't need anymore.

and good luck getting some of that "free" healthcare.

People only see the word free. I've said this before, Doctors don't volunteer their time, we don't all get together on the weekends and build hospitals, drug companies don't donate meds. We pay for it though our noise here. A 12 pack of beer is over $30. $.50 of every $1 finds its way to the government unless you are making under the poverty line (I think its around 20k/year and you still pay tax on that 20K) God help you if you make a 6 figure income. You are suppose to shear the sheep not kill them. I could go on forever but lets talk about quality of health care.

I never knew a day in my life where my mother was not sick. She had a rare illness and dealt with it everyday. I have spent enough time at doctors and hospitals to last two life times and I can tell you your story is just another familiar tale that I've heard far too often.

I'm not claiming that the American system is flawless and we should convert but man does the Canadian system have it problems. Everyone who argues for the Canadian system always heavily lays into the free vs paid aspect saying "I would rather 'some' healthcare then none as I could never afford it in the states." but as your story shows some is not much better (if any better) then none. In the states you can at least go to a better hospital or a different specialist.

Anyway I wish you the best navigating the Canadian health care system. Good luck you will need it!

Anyway I wish you the best navigating the Canadian health care system. Good luck you will need it!

Just for context, I have a family friend in a southern Ontario city, who reported this year that they waited about 4~5 hours waiting in hospotial emegency waiting room for bleeding-stoppage services.

I myself rememebr the wait for emegency wait room hopsital was about 3 hours wait, about 10 years ago.

Oh, and don't forget the exta out-ofpocket amublance and drug chages, here in our North-North-America Leafistan!

Universal healthcare my arse! It is bascially useless if there are massive staff shortage or regulation red tapes.

The biggests problem is with the rich greed demons at the top! (eg. MBAs in healthcare corporation obsessed with "cost-cutting" and "efficencies", while doing none of the actual frontline work, or corrrupt CDN governemnt breaucrats obsessed with excessive taxes/regulations that they can pocket.)

[–]canuck3157 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Canada is way worse off than america these days, the corruption is protected behind the crown's shield.

So true, the establishment corruption level in our country Canada is truly off the charts, and we have the top ruling class (eg. top richest big government / corporate leaders) to thank for the sheer amount of corruption, one of the most corrupt in the world!

I suspect the corruption index reports is not being honest in reporting the current state of corruption in Canada, because the media companies are bought off by the billionares and ultra-rich top leaders in charge. (Eg. Thmosom media ultra-rich mass-lying greed demons.)

The corruption protection is also in the legal system in the form of "corporate leadership protection scheme", and lack of any real accountability, as well as the greedy corrupt brutal police state oppression.

The are way too many examples of corruptions in Canada to list: like lengthy constructions delay corruptions (years of delay in Canada compared to mere months or weeks of completion in other countries in the world), massive big-corporate-pyramid oligarchs economic schemes in telecoms /energy/gas/shopping malls /etc, abusurd amounts of fees and regulations in healthcare/financ/retail/etc, legal system that protects the big corporations but not the common people's choices, tricky dishonest/obscure government breaucrats imposing absurd/frequent changes to conditions on benefits ... etc.

The genral populace in Canada are slaves, abused by the richest top 1% in Canada, with the greed demons at the top in mega governemmtns & corporations.

The damage Trump did last term outlasted the presidency.

The corruption of the legal system, including the supreme court, the selling of military secrets to the Saudis, dropping the TPP which would have contained China, dropping the JCPOA, which was containing Iran, the increase in government debt, and debt servicing costs, the damage done to the economy under the mismanagement of covid .. you might need a 40-year escape.

Well good news Biden just "Trumped" Trump and all the things you just mentioned.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/world/biden-allows-ukraine-to-strike-long-range-us-missiles-inside-russia-5761464

Oh wait you will just call Epoch Times Right wing hacks so here's CNNs take. Found it well below the articles bashing Trump's cabinet picks because you know, that's more important.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/17/europe/analysis-biden-atacms-ukraine-intl-latam/index.html

You reading this ActuallyNot? This is what real fucking problems look like. This truly stupid, idiotic fucking man just gave long range missiles to Ukraine to attack deep inside Russia who has made it clear "This is an act of war." (Hope they don't fuck up and hit a civilian target by mistake. That would be all the justification Russia would need.)

So this leads to two simple possibilities. Either Russia takes the missiles up the ass and does nothing about it or they escalate in retaliation.

Biden and his admin are the true threat, not just to American but the whole world. They are poking a bear equipped with NUCULAR WEPONS THAT CAN HIT ANYWHERE ON THE PLANET! This is fucking insane. This has the very real potential to lead to the LITERAL END OF CIVILIZATION! but no, Trumps the problem... Have a great day, I'll be checking up that nothing has expired in my fallout shelter.

FYI if the bombs do fall and I survive the first thing I'm Haming out over the airways is "Sock sucks balls! I was right!"

You reading this ActuallyNot? This is what real fucking problems look like.

You think an unprovoked invasion and genocide by Russia wasn't a real fucking problem?

Why not?

"This is an act of war."

Invading a peaceful neighbour is an act of war.

Either Russia takes the missiles up the ass and does nothing about it or they escalate in retaliation.

Well, asking nicely to withdraw doesn't seem to be working.

This is fucking insane. This has the very real potential to lead to the LITERAL END OF CIVILIZATION!

Once there were nuclear powers, dealing with the situation where one comes under the control of a psychopath was always going to come up. It's probably better to clear out one before we have to deal with a world with two.

Have a great day, I'll be checking up that nothing has expired in my fallout shelter.

You think an unprovoked invasion and...

I can argue that Russians invasion is the result of the continued expansion of the NATO military's alliance pushing further and further east. America was willing to risk all out war when the USSR was trying to station nuclear missiles in Cuba and rightfully so. No one wants an enemy a stones throw away.

...genocide by Russia wasn't a real fucking problem?

Genocide -noun -The systematic and widespread extermination or attempted extermination of a national, racial, religious, or ethnic group.

That's not what's going on here. This is a war. There are no reports of civilians rounded up, shot in cold blood and tossed into a mass grave just because they live in Ukraine. Civilian causalities are a reality of any war.

Invading a peaceful neighbor is an act of war.

True, an act of war of Russian against Ukraine not NATO or The West. Russian invaded Georgia, Tajikistan and then there was the whole Chechnya thing and there was nothing close to resembling the support given to Ukraine. This is a regional conflict. NATO has clear borders that unfortunately don't include Ukraine. There is no sane reason for the West to be offering this level of support.

Well, asking nicely to withdraw doesn't seem to be working.

These missiles won't win this. They only provoke and prolong. Unless NATO is willing to fully commit with troops on the ground (and thus starting WW3 if they haven't already.) Russian will redeploy outside the range of these missile and continue to grind along until either Ukraine runs out of steam or The West politicians are pressured into giving up.

During the US - Afghanistan war the Taliban had a saying "The US has the watches but we have the time." Despite all the US/NATO military's size and tech The Taliban knew The West didn’t have the stomach for a prolonged war that doesn't immediately affect them.

Once there were nuclear powers, dealing with the situation where one comes under the control of a psychopath was always going to come up. It's probably better to clear out one before we have to deal with a world with two.

NATO borders a clearly marked. If a Russian troop sets one foot in Poland then lets go! “Dealing” with Putin is a double edge sword, a roll of the dice. We have no clue who would replace him and how they would respond. Could be better, could be worse.

It’s a kinda like Trump, we had four years with him and we know what we are in for. My worry is down the road, who comes after Trump? The only way to beat Trump is “bigger and better.” Think about that… It’s scary.

I stick by my original points, With this action, Biden and his admin are acting far more dangerous then anything Trump has done. They are risking the entire future of the human race on this and for what? My guess is they have some shit going on in Ukraine and this is one last ditch effort to help with whatever is truly going on there before they loose power.

I can argue that Russians invasion is the result of the continued expansion of the NATO military's alliance pushing further and further east.

Even Russia isn't arguing that. And Ukraine was looking to Europe economically, not militarily.

That's not what's going on here. This is a war.

They're targeting schools, hospitals, and in winter, the power supply, and civilian infrastructure. They are abducting children by the tens of thousands.

This is genocide.

There are no reports of civilians rounded up, shot in cold blood and tossed into a mass grave just because they live in Ukraine.

Yes there are.

The agony of not knowing, as Mariupol mass burial sites grow

New Mass Graves Found In Ukraine As Putin’s Atrocities Continue

Ukraine: UN rights office set to probe ‘mass graves’ in newly liberated east

These missiles won't win this. They only provoke and prolong.

If the end point isn't the withdrawal from Ukraine, Russia will regroup and attack again a few years later. As we learned by not responding militarily to the annexation of Crimea. So this doesn't prolong. Because we cannot leave this without winning the war.

Russian will redeploy outside the range of these missile and continue to grind along until either Ukraine runs out of steam or The West politicians are pressured into giving up.

Ukraine doesn't have to outlast the Russian Military, only their economy.

With this action, Biden and his admin are acting far more dangerous then anything Trump has done.

Not if you live in a flooding for wildfire zone. And not if you need an abortion or are intersex.

Even Russia isn't arguing that. And Ukraine was looking to Europe economically, not militarily.

That’s just an outright lie. Russia is 100% arguing that.

https://www.dw.com/en/nato-why-russia-has-a-problem-with-its-eastward-expansion/a-60891681

and there are plenty of other sources to back that up. I’m sure it’s not the only reason for the invasion but it is definitely a part. Especially after the 2014 coup.

If you think that both Ukraine and NATO don’t see military benefits from Ukraine joining NATO then you are naive.

They're targeting schools, hospitals, and in winter, the power supply, and civilian infrastructure. They are abducting children by the tens of thousands.

Yup that’s what they are doing! War sucks balls especially when Russia is coming at you. War crimes -check, Crimes against humanity -check but I still won’t concede genocide.

If the end point isn't the withdrawal from Ukraine, Russia will regroup and attack again a few years later. As we learned by not responding militarily to the annexation of Crimea. So this doesn't prolong. Because we cannot leave this without winning the war.

Ukraine doesn't have to outlast the Russian Military, only their economy.

So long as Putin is alive he won’t withdrawal. If he did he would almost certainly be assassinated. He has to walk away with something to show for all this or he’s a dead man. I think the best case ending to this war is Ukraine gives up some territory and Russian goes home heavily bruised, hopefully learning the lesson that if they choose to invade again the cost is astronomical and not worth the gains.

Putin doesn’t care for Russia’s economy as long as they are producing weapons. If he did care for it he never would have attacked in the first place. I also feel reports of the state of Russian’s economy are underestimated giving a false impression they are on the brink. Pro Russian sources say things are great, West says they are falling apart. I feel it’s something in the middle.

Not if you live in a flooding for wildfire zone. And not if you need an abortion or are intersex.

Even if every single American was vastly and negatively affected by Trump that’s 350 Million +. If Putin feels the walls closing in and his inner circle turning on him he could very likely toss the nuclear hail marry. That would effect all 9 billion + in this world. Every person, on every continent, in every country, in every city and every town. That’s what Biden and his administration is doing.

Look how Russia responded today with the launch of the IRBM. A clear warning that it could have been loaded with nukes. Absolutely insane. I feel for Ukraine. It sucks balls Russian is next to them and attacking them but this is not the fight of The West. Certainly not to this extent. Any gains from helping Ukraine pale in comparison to the risks.

[–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

That’s just an outright lie. Russia is 100% arguing that.

Do you have a source that has Russia specifically justifying the invasion of Ukraine in terms of NATO expansion. I know the Putin is salty about not being allowed into NATO, but prior to the invasion the was no talk of Ukraine getting NATO protection.

War crimes -check, Crimes against humanity -check but I still won’t concede genocide.

Okay. They're targeting civilians. With a goal of killing or abducting. And there are mass graves.

So long as Putin is alive he won’t withdrawal. If he did he would almost certainly be assassinated.

What do you base that on?

The invasion of Russia's neighbours is a vanity project of Putin's a he longs for long lost influence. No one else in Russia cares if Ukraine is free and democratic.

Putin doesn’t care for Russia’s economy as long as they are producing weapons.

And keep the people with communications, transport, power, water and Vodka.

Interest rates are above 20% to keep the ruble valuable enough for them to buy parts of the supply chain for the weapons. At some point that will crack.

I also feel reports of the state of Russian’s economy are underestimated giving a false impression they are on the brink.

It's showed since resilience. But whether they can keep it up for 2 years or 20, that is the shortest line to victory.

If Putin feels the walls closing in and his inner circle turning on him he could very likely toss the nuclear hail marry.

He's got the alternative of withdrawing.

Look how Russia responded today with the launch of the IRBM.

They've constantly been using that threat. That's doesn't mean we should keep them turn their neighbouring states into totalitarian hell.

[–]HiddenFox[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Do you have a source that has Russia specifically justifying the invasion of Ukraine in terms of NATO expansion. I know the Putin is salty about not being allowed into NATO, but prior to the invasion the was no talk of Ukraine getting NATO protection.

Not specifically but after the coup there was a clear change from a pro Russia to a pro West government. That new government would have to deal with Russia undermining them until the end of time. A NATO membership would greatly help keep them in power. NATO itself would benefit with a first strike/ staging area. Not that I believe they would use it in reality but it gives leverage.

Interest rates are above 20% to keep the ruble valuable enough for them to buy parts of the supply chain for the weapons. At some point that will crack.

Agreed, but Putin will be the last to feel it. He would not hesitate to let his people suffer for years or even decades.

It's showed since resilience. But whether they can keep it up for 2 years or 20, that is the shortest line to victory.

I agree with this as well. To end this I would think The West would try and turn an oligarch who would have him assassinated. He could then ascend to Putin's position, retreat and make nice with the west. This oligarch would stand to gain big if they could pull it off.

He's got the alternative of withdrawing.

A sane person would have by now but I truly think he would be killed if he did. All this and not a thing to show for it, in fact he would lose Crimea at that point. Defiantly be killed in Russia for that.

[–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Not specifically but after the coup there was a clear change from a pro Russia to a pro West government.

No really. Economically they were pro-Europe, until the Parliament passed all those laws without going through due process that moved cut down on free speech, on gathering together, and stopped the progress towards joining the EU. Then there was the unrest, Russian thugs disappearing activists, but they underestimated the support and eventually the Euromaidan protests toppled Yanukovych.

That new government would have to deal with Russia undermining them until the end of time.

And so they have. But Russia justified that with completely made-up things. Denazification. Liberation for oppressed Russian speaking Ukrainians. Not defence against NATO nuclear missile launch sites in Crimea.

He could then ascend to Putin's position, retreat and make nice with the west.

USA has a long history of such tools of geopolitical influence: Arming insurgency, assassination and terrorism, and they always seem to have unintended consequences. I think the moral high ground is more valuable in the perception of the people than they think.

A sane person would have by now but I truly think he would be killed if he did.

By who?

[–]ActuallyNot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Putin has the option of withdrawing rather than committing his population centers to radioactive dust.

He's always talked up his nuclear threat. That's not sufficient justification to let one person inflict a totalitarian hell upon innocent people, including mass killings and mass abductions, that many people recognise as genocide.

But what makes you think Putin would be assassinated if he withdraws? Surely the expansion of Russia's borders is his own vanity project as he longs for power and influence long gone. Nobody else in Russia cares if Ukraine is free, democratic and happy.

[–]HiddenFox[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

He's always talked up his nuclear threat. That's not sufficient justification to let one person inflict a totalitarian hell upon innocent people, including mass killings and mass abductions, that many people recognize as genocide.

Morally I totally agree with you but on a practical level I think of not only of Russia but China and North Korea. These counties all engage in deplorable behavior. True crimes of humanity but The West can not fight them all without the world coming to an end. It's a shitty reality.

It's something few people rarely take time to be grateful for, being born in a Westerns country. Having that protection every day of their life.

But what makes you think Putin would be assassinated if he withdraws?

If Russia and therefore Putin is perceived as losing he is going to have to deal with the fallout. I don't think the oligarchs, military or the civilians are going to be very understanding. They will look at the hardships, lives, money, investment and reputation lost and someone will have to pay for it. My guess is Putin himself will be offered up as penance to the masses. "his own vanity project as he longs for power and influence long gone" Your right on this and that's how his replacement would sell it.
