Springfield Armory donated campaign money to anti-gun legislators. It's like the moon0shiners that would give money to the preachers who would preach about the sins of the alcohol so as to keep the moonshiners more profitable by making it harder to get (or the appearance of scarcity). Talk show pundits get more viewers when their side is not winning.

I remember seeing an HBO documentary by Nancy Pelosi's daughter about the rise of Trump (just before the 2016 election) and she interviewed a guy selling Trump stickers. She asked if he supported Trump and he said "not really", but he was hyping up the crowd to sell more product.

I certainly understand the concept, makes sense, just too bad it works so well. Rewarding hypocrisy, what a world we live in.

Yes: people who decide to make a little extra cash instead of doing the right thing, or not doing the wrong thing. I can sort of understand that some people think they can't change things. Too bad they think of themselves as the only one and not as themselves as part of a larger group with the power of numbers, even if acting independently.
