There were millions of private individuals who voted for increases in migration and they should be expected to put their money where their mouths are and offer migrants a free space in their homes. Forcing people to pay for a program they voted against because they foresaw the cost it would cause them to bear, is not an acceptable solution.

Those people voted mail-in and were dead or pets.

But yeah if they majority of the neighborhood voted for more immigrants they have the responsibility to house them.

The article mentions the 30 day rule. This comment elaborated on the issue:

The city can not get around the 30 day rule without striking it down. The rule is if you live in once residence for more than 30 days they can not be evicted without a court order. Then the person gets a stay of that order and so on. Anyone taking anyone in better be aware of this before grasping at the hundred bucks, that’s if it’s even offered to the apartment renter. Then you have a problem with your landlord, it’s considered another occupant, it may violate your lease.

So they're removing tenant protections or making a whole lot of illegals legal tenants.

The long-term effect of us is going to be at the rents or driven to the sky. The landlords know that each house that does this is going to have more income and so they're going to raise the rents as they always do homes I didn't take in these illegals are going to be forced to consider it or forced to relocate if New Yorkers thought the renter. Hi now just wait until a year into this program
