Anyone living in the cities needs to get out now. I’m so glad I moved to the country almost nine years ago. The land around me can’t be developed, ever, and shooting day and night is acceptable. Rapid gunfire isn’t reported and the cops take forever to get here when they are called for anything.

The blowback on this is building, and it's going to be super ugly. Skim through the history of the French Revolution (the old history, no idea what the lunatics are teaching now) to see what must come eventually. The first group to claim the ring is in for a rude awakening when the counter-claim comes. The other element that is so predictable and infuriating is that the very same people who are now supporting this crap will be the ones executing their current "allies" in a time that is shorter than many recognize. This group will never take responsibility. No, they will say, "We tried to help them, and they betrayed us!" The same assholes currently in government will claim that we should follow them to eliminate the very threat they are now feeding and enabling. They go home, put on a new hat, and re-invent themselves as the enemies of that which they today are the creators of. Human nature has not changed. It's coming.

Ah; that old fossil, the French Revolution.

Here's a tldr: An out-of-power, but still 1%-er clique roused the rabble with that "liberté égalité fraternité" agitprop, and recruited enough pitchfork-wielding bullet-sponges to prevail.

Except once the in-power, entrenched 1%-ers* ran out of bullets, what really changed for the peons? Another bunch of 1%-ers took over. The survivors went right back to being peons, and were 'rewarded' with 15 years of military rule.

Sure but Napoleon was legit the best thing to happen to France since Charlemagne and dare I say Europe. Shame they ganged up on him and exiled him to the ass end of nowhere. Napoleonic empire was the best Europe has been in ages and it's fall let the Germans practice self rule which is fucking disaster. Two world wars. Weird porn.
