Radar can pick up a birds signature.
Radar can easily detect a large round inflated balloon.

It's absurd to imagine radar that's designed to detect an ICBM wouldn't pick this up from hundreds of miles away.

They already admitted NORAD knew of the balloon when it crossed the Aleutian Islands before making its way over Canada and into the U.S.. Why they Waite three weeks to make an issue out of it is the question.

There's a difference between being able to spot something and having the ability to get a national shit together to figure out whether to shoot it down or let it be. Evidently.

That makes no sense at all. We have millions of people who's only job is air defense. It should take them a few minutes at the latest to decide if they should shoot something down.
