Lake effect snow is a sight to see. I've watched golf ball sized snowflake clusters accumulate on the ground so quickly you can watch it accumulate.

The east edge of Lake Erie has crazy snow until Mid Jan or so, which is when the lake freezes over. Then it's normal snow.
