I can see the headlines now: "Elon Musk puts disclaimer on ALL Ukrainian media tweets" ignoring that all ukranian media was taken over by the state.

The BBC is a private corporation.

They don't get government money.

But if you don't pay your TV licence, the government will step in to resolve the issue by force.

Would car prices fall if Chinese cars were allowed to be imported into the US?

Would airline ticket prices fall if foreign airlines could fly domestic routes?

Would shipping costs fall if foreign cargo ships could ship freight between domestic ports?

Would prices fall if foreigners were allowed to work in the USA?

Would medical costs fall if foreign doctors could work in the US?

Would prices fall if there were fewer regulations and the free market was allowed to decide which companies were good or bad?

Plenty of people don't have a licence. Just don't have a TV and watch it on your laptop. It's a TV licence not a BBC licence.

Without the BBC there would be no license, what on earth are you talking about? The fact that the government always delay abolishing the license because of the 'need for quality broadcasting' aka state influenced news says it all.you can own a TV for streaming services, games consoles, etc, but must pay for live TV, which is basically the few terrestrial channels all supported by the BBC.

The BBC is state propaganda.

We just found out that Facebook gives backlog access to the government. The BBC works in the same fashion.

Saying anything otherwise is ignorant and willfully ignorant.

I didn't say the government doesn't have influence but it's not financial influence, it's power.

Yea you're not disingenuous at all...

Sure they do. Liar. Stop lying, liar!

https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/cs/no-licence-needed/about.app

This is how you defund the BBC. Follow the link to declare you no longer need a license. Cancel your direct debit. Defund the BBC. Don't fund pedophiles. The BBC protected pedophiles for years and knew exactly how evil they were.

Prove it.

"There is still sadly a small group of people at the BBC who think that the only problem with Savile was that it was exposed and if had stayed hushed up everything would be fine."

https://www.pressgazette.co.uk/meirion-jones-speaks-out-everyone-who-was-right-side-savile-argument-has-been-forced-out-bbc/

BBC crying for mercy!?! So were the kids that Jimmy Savile violated and he didn't stop.

More pedophiles have worked for the BBC than the Pope.

Are you retarded? They get money from license fees at the threat of imprisonment from the government.

[–]JasonCarswell 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Sometimes jet199 is not just retarded, but so ridiculously retarded it's laughable.

I often thinks she either blurts out the first absurdity that springs to mind, or she trolls for LOLs.

Yeah, you steal things then you can go to prison. It's a thing. Are supermarkets funded by the government because you can't walk out without paying without getting arrested?

[–]MightyMorphinFaggot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You can't just opt of bbc services and keep the rest you potato. It's a TV license, not a bbc license.

If I just wanted to watch sky news, legally I have to pay them anyway.

Using your analogy I'd have to buy bread to get the milk, or I'm stealing the milk.

The only workaround is streaming, but a lot of the country is on shit tier internet.

Amusing to consider that during the '70s and '80s MSM 'nightly news' would occasionally feature pieces depicting Poles, Czechs or E. Germans lined up to get into bare-shelved stores, or making fun of [minor party-official] having to get on a ten-year waiting list for a car or bigger apartment.

They also never failed to label everything from an Eastern-Bloc media bureau as "State-Controlled".
