I often wonder why they allowed the US dollar to hold that status for so long while the US used the hegemony it provided to finance their military threat against those countries and so many others.

Because the USD is ubiquitous and stable. There's no reason to not use it until something like this current retardation happens and it becomes inconvenient.

Um ...no. the petri dish that is the corporation doing business as the United States of America is no longer needed. They learned what they needed to learn and how to make people complacent stupid and lazy... And how to tell the lies were the most people will believe them. Time to go global they don't need us anymore so they're burning down the lab.

Russia's not that powerful and China is still a developing country despite having the 2nd largest economy. You essentially need to be powerful enough to withstand US wrath if you're switching away from the dollar.

Look at what happened to Libya and Gaddafi.

I heard about this "announcement" about six weeks ago through other channels from my Russian friends. Through non-official channels, though.

We all assumed they were stockpiling gold to do this for the last 15-20 years.
