Brittney Griner is the millionaire who said that the WNBA should stop playing the national anthem because America is too racist.

What a total piece of shit.

Because nothing says we value free speech like mandatory patriotism signaling. Why do we need to play the national anthem before every sporting event. We don't do this for anything else, and manage to play tennis, golf, and other sports without doing it. Just not doing this anymore would also put a stop to those pesky free-speech exercising athletes from exploiting it as an opportunity for virtue signaling by taking a knee or refusing to participate

But would you take it out of Olympic ceremonies as well?

I think it makes perfect sense to have anthems at the Olympics, that is about representing your country. Other countries don't generally play an anthem for domestic sporting events, it is generally done in international competitions.

I hated the anthem as a child. As an adult, it makes me feel proud.

I have mixed feelings. I am proud of what it originally stood for - fighting for independence from the British Monarchy and Church. I am not proud of what America stands for today, but for different reasons than the athletes. I do not support the proxy regime change war we are waging in Ukraine, and the multitude of times we have done similar things around the world. I do not support US imperialism. During the aftermath of 9/11 patriotism was consistently cited as the reason that we needed to invade Iraq because we were attacked by Saudis in Afghanistan, and if you questioned this narrative you were unpatriotic and unamerican scum. I see similar attitudes about supporting the war in Ukraine

Look at Assange and look at Trump.

If they really wanted to imprison or "suicide" Trump, it would already have been done. Assange isn't even fucking American.

I think it's really tough. To me patriotism means being proud of things like the Constitution, the Bill Of Rights that guarantees my freedom of speech, right to bear arms, privacy, and freedom of the press. Yet to other people patriotism means putting Assange(the free press) in jail to protect American interests, or supporting a war, or maybe something else altogether. I'm not against being patriotic for the right reasons, but I am wary of the government exploiting this to support wars because we have a history of doing that. I guess it just bothers me that I am signaling something with displays of patriotism, but it is a very ambiguous signal that I don't think makes clear where I stand

Dude, learn some history. America has always been evil. The only difference is that you have more access to information now with the internet.

It was the first government founded on the principles of social contract theory and governance by consent, and at one time, represented significant progress for freedom and liberty compared to what was happening in Europe at the time. I think you are the one who needs a history lesson

While jailing people for weed is ridiculous, you have to be mentally retarded to go to Russia of all places, and try and transport cartridges. Don't feel bad at all. I smoke weed everyday, and the last thing I'd do is be dumb enough to do this. Hope she rots in a jail cell, not for the weed, but for thinking her bouncing a ball has anything to do with breaking another countries laws. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Fuck her, and anyone else who thinks she should walk. The less bouncy ball morons who get to talk out loud the better.

        Oh I get it.

He is so delusional, he think we benefit from his presence here in America. Like he does something.

        It's the other way around.

If you only support free speech when you agree with what is being said, you don't really believe in free speech
