This makes sense. The feature was intended to let smaller channels avoid the catch-22 by not driving away potential subscribers because of their low subscriber count. But now YouTube doesn't want organic growth anymore, they want to suppress everyone but their chosen industry plants, such as Dream. This is probably why everyone else quit, out of frustration that they can't get any views anymore because every trending page is filled to the brim with Dream shilling.
