In one moving scene, Ronnie says: "I just get up on a morning, and you know, takes a minute for me to get going.

No one finds it moving when it takes me a minute to get going.

Also I think his main issue is having surgeries to treat back problems. They usually cause more problems than they cure but surgeons over sell themselves.

Well it's certainly tied with years of rampant overuse of anabolic steroids.

Well, those are the injections that we're allowed to blame.

Something else. Something neurological.

Obviously he should stop competitive training after the first operation and definitely avoid the third.

He should never have had the first.

He should have got streched out and got his posture sorted. Made sure his stronger muscles weren't pulling the weaker back muscles out.

Suffering with problems with his back from a young age, Ronnie had refused to let the pain stop him becoming world champion.

welp.

"The King"? Bad things happen to men that allow themselves to be idolized and called "the greatest". Other examples include Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, who both suffered humiliating ends after being called "the king". The True King is none other than Jesus Christ. And he also suffered a humiliating end: the death on the cross. They put a sign on his cross with this accusation: KING OF THE JEWS. He died not for pride or for his sin, because he is already meek and never sinned, but he died for us sinners, who need salvation and freedom from this wicked world of bondage.

So men, if you allow yourself to be praised as the greatest, or to be The King, prepare to be humbled, because God is against the proud, but he honors the humble.

fun little difference is Jesus conquered death and is still the king, so

[–]In-the-clouds 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Jesus was resurrected and is alive, and yes, he is still the King of kings.

I pray Ronnie would humble himself and realize he is weak and needs the Savior. All men, regardless of muscle size, are weak without God.

So jesus deserved to be crucified?

[–]In-the-clouds 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

We deserve to be crucified, for our apostasy from God... and for our sins. Jesus took our place, for those of us that will receive him as The King. He gave his life for us, buying us from our adversary, paying for us with his blood. What other king would allow himself to be humiliated for the sake of his people, to save them from ruin? I cannot think of any other.

Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You really believe that?

[–]Evola 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

What do you believe?

[–]Rob3122 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

None of the bullshit preacher man is spewing

[–]Evola 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Why?

[–]Rob3122 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Why should I?

Working out is a healthy practice if done with knowledge and patience. Having good form is top priority. Pay attention to your body, don't ignore pain and let injuries heal. Steroids and other performance enhancing drugs should be avoided as they may lead to gains but can cause serious health issues in the long run.

Good advice.

This story is an ad.

[–]raven9 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

Our vertebra was never designed for upright walking in the first place. Putting all that extra vertical force and strain on it by working out with weights is asking for trouble.

People had a different posture in the past. https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2015/06/08/412314701/lost-posture-why-indigenous-cultures-dont-have-back-pain?t=1656450162769

Likely most of our back problems come from that change not bad evolution.

If people in the past are having their back go out every few months they'd get eaten by a lion pretty quickly.

Our vertebra was never designed for upright walking

What do you think, then... Did God intend for us to walk on our hands?

[–]raven9 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Yes. That is why most primates scamper about on all fours.

[–]In-the-clouds 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Are you a primate? If so, was your mouth not designed to speak words? None of the other primates speak like us, similar to how none of them walk and run like us. So why does your mouth speak? If you would rather be a primate, you could walk on your hands and stop speaking. Primates do not speak, but you do. Why is that?

I would say it is because you were designed in the image of God, who is "the Word". Man would not be like God if he could not speak words and understand them. God made man to be like him.... male and female made he them.

[–]raven9 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Humans are classified as primates so yes I am. Humans are just more highly evolved than the others.

[–]Evola 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I've gone from sleeping in a bed to a Japanese-style futon with a mat underneath, essentially just about sleeping on the floor. It takes a lot of the daily tension out of my back working in heavy industry because it forces you to lie on your back and it pretty much just straightens it up while you sleep.

A lot of back problems that people have now are probably due to obesity, idolatry and oversoft mattresses.

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think there's some evidence that if you do manual work then a hard bed is good but if you sit at a desk it doesn't make much difference

Oh that poor man. Bless his heart.

Hmmm so we're really gonna pretend that steroids had nothing to do with this ?

Wow, that guy looks like he was a sculpture of a human made from chunks cut off of an ox.
